  19. Subject: WordPerfect for Windows 5.1--Updating Printer Driver

  21. Situation:
  22. ==========
  23. The message "Updating printer driver" displays for a long time when
  24. you select the WinFax printer driver in WordPerfect for Windows 5.1.
  25.  
  26. Solution:
  27. =========
  28. WordPerfect suggests the following to alleviate the long wait time
  29. when switching to the WinFax PRO 2.0 printer driver:
  30.  
  31. 1.  Change the attribute of the WINFAX.WRS file to read-only. To do
  32.     this, type the following in the directory where you store your
  33.     WordPerfect printer files ...
  34.  
  35.          ATTRIB +R WINFAX.WRS
  36.  
  37.     ... then press ENTER.
  38.  
  39. 2.  Call the WordPerfect printer technical support at 1-800-228-1017
  40.     and leave your name and number.
  41.  
  42. Notes:   This solution will result in a non-fatal error message when
  43.          you try to switch printer drivers.
  44.  
  45.          You cannot add new fonts without changing the file attribute
  46.          back to read/write.
